CHAPTER – II
We have always learned in science that energy is the ability to work, and another word to use in place of energy is power. In physics, power is measured in terms of the rate at which work is done. The rate is determined by how much energy is consumed by a certain work over a given period. Solar power is the example of work being done using the sun’s energy, which is then converted into electricity. The use of the term “power” draws the basic idea that something is powerful and full of energy when it works.
Chapter 2, ‘Energy’ of Restart 2020, explores how individuals relate to natural and spiritual energy both figuratively and literally in various traditions across the world. The chapter ends up leaving a few questions in mind.
- What are inner energies that human beings experience spiritually powerful in their lives?
- How human energies relate to the energies of the natural world?
- Do you feel any relation between your inner human energy and the energy of the natural world?
The word ‘energy’ and ‘power’ have been used historically in different cultures to describe God’s experience, Gods, and other spiritual forces. Some of the ancient as well as contemporary cultures identify God itself as natural energy.
